Frequently asked questions
What is a 1-day eSIM?
A 1-day eSIM is a prepaid data plan for a single day in Hong Kong. You buy it online, install it with a QR code and use mobile data for that day without roaming fees.
When does my day start?
It depends on the plan and is shown on each plan card: either when the eSIM first connects to a network in Hong Kong, or as soon as it is installed.
Is 5 GB or 10 GB enough for one day?
5 GB covers a full day of maps, messaging, social media and some video calls. Choose 10 GB if you stream, upload a lot of photos or share your connection via hotspot.
Can I extend my day pass?
Yes. You can top up your existing eSIM with additional days from your eSIM status page, without installing a new eSIM.
Do I need to activate the eSIM online?
No. After payment you receive a QR code and installation link by email. Install it, enable data roaming for the eSIM and you're online, no separate online activation step.
Will I get a phone number?
No, the eSIM is data only. Your regular SIM stays active for calls and SMS if you want, and you can use apps like WhatsApp over data.
When should I install the eSIM?
Install it when you have a stable Wi-Fi connection, ideally before you leave. If the plan starts on installation, install it on the day you travel.
Is a day pass cheaper than roaming?
Often, yes, especially if your home plan doesn't include Hong Kong or charges a daily roaming fee. Check your own carrier's rates to compare.
